We unfortunately had to say goodbye to our amazing friends in Tong Bai, as we continued pushing forward to the city of Nanyang. Thank you friends....your generosity and hospitality will never be overlooked.
Ho Young had a tough start to the day...He didn't get much rest because he was overheating throughout the night and his tent was positioned close to the passing traffic along the highway which made it difficult to fall asleep....I guess in the end the swamp was the better choice.....woo! Ho Young's day was a constant battle and to make matters worse the bike problems started to transpire....He had four flat tires in which one tube exploded because there was too much pressure. We receive a lot of attention when we go through cities and communities and when the sound of a shotgun blast came from Ho Young's tire,' the locals were wondering what those "Crazy Laowai's" were doing.
I have a blast mingling with the locals. They tend to ask me the same questions, so I have the same Chinese response rehearsed to perfection.... However, Ho Young kept a positive outlook throughout the day and he understands that the misfortunes we encounter only make the reward much more satisfying in the end.
Yesterday, we refilled the trailer in a town called Xinjizhen which was in very poor condition. There were many children playing throughout the streets and they were thrilled to be receiving new equipment. There is so much satisfaction witnessing the pure joy coming from the children and youth. This charity ride has been a group effort and everyone who has contributed to this cause should be very proud....
