We are starting to meet many cyclists traveling along the 312 highway. Yesterday, we met the most ambitious cyclist thus far....a gentlemen by the name of Dennis who resides in America and started cycling from Madrid, Spain and 8000 km later he finds himself in China outside the city of Nanyang. When Dennis initially saw us he started screaming "English, English" and his wishes were answered as I approached him and told him I was from Canada. All he could say was "thank god, thank god" because he hasn't had a conversation with someone in weeks! After we went our separate ways I was inspired by his amazing journey which gave us a power surge to ride hard and with passion. It is amazing the people you encounter in this world and it seems everyone has a story...We bid you farewell Dennis and good luck cycling across the world!
We are currently cycling through the mountains which I love. I enjoy the feeling of pushing hard up hills and enjoying the landscape on the descend. We have been cycling through small cities which are extremely poor and many places are being reconstructed to improve the overall living environment. The children in these communities are thrilled when we arrive...Everyone should have the privilege to play and we are trying our best to spread that message through the power of sport.
We are up early today and ready for the hills. A fellow colleague and friend Jack Chen self proclaimed himself as "king of the hills" during our Vietnam tour. Even though I didn't have the privilege of witnessing his grace punish hills due to injury, this my friend is your opportunity to show us what you are made of as we go through the mountain stages of our trip.
Thank you everyone for your support. Time to ride, I am hungry for those hills....jiayou!
