We are now in Xi'an! We have cycled 1600 km and have been through many communities to share our message. We still have 3750 km left in our journey before we reach our destination and I have to be back to work for August 22nd.....The adventure has just begun! The first 40 km was climbing hills and today we refilled the trailer so it was extra work for the legs...and then we reached the highest point of the "Lanzhou" highway in which we enjoyed a 35 km descend. Along the way we stopped at various points to distribute equipment to communities located in the mountains....One of the villages I gave a child a soccer ball and then he made some type of tribal call to alert the other children and they came running from all directions! I was alone because Ho Young was dealing with a flat tire and I needed some backup quickly! There were children running towards me naked trying to get a ball...adults yelling because they were unhappy with the size of ball their child received...I was under attack by children and adults! I was trying to communicate to the people to get some type of order to control the chaos and eventually I was able to manage the group and Ho Young finally showed up to provide some extra help....We got out alive and we continued our way to Xi'an. We have been so fortunate throughout our journey....We have met so many great people and the scenery has been spectacular, especially over the past few days. Xi'an is an amazing place and I have very fond memories from my previous visit....We are going to enjoy the afternoon and then get back on the saddle after lunch. We are going to be heading back into the mountains and I will leave you with some photos from the past three days. We have been so fortunate throughout our journey....We have met so many great people and the scenery has been spectacular, especially over the past few days.

Wow, that was really close when you were under attack of adults and children. I have to tell you Mr. Hayes. Some of the people in the deep west are very rude. Beware of those people. Take care and hope your following journey goes well.

Hey guys! Absolutely amazing adventure so far. It's very cool that you take the time to update your blog daily...feels like we're all right there with you.....Of course we're living the adventure without the thousands of kms on the bike. So those classroom management skills are being challenged eh? Couldn't you just give a Hayes callout...."Alright, everyone line up baby!" Keep up the great work and am looking forward to future blogs!!

Great call out! I stand by my classroom management skills, but I was getting flanked from every direction and I actually attempted to get everyone in a line, but the translation was a tad off....haha. Great to hear that you are enjoying our tales and I bet you are enjoying being back home. Tell SJ I say hi!

Great to see that even if "things do not go according to plan", the attitude of your blog is completely positive. That is the way to carry your team through the heat, dust. cramps and sore butts. I am so impressed by the great karma that comes through in your posts and of course in your pictures. Will you stop and smell the roses for awhile at some point, or is the plan to keep forging ahead?

There has been so much positive energy gained from the people we have met and the support we are receiving from everyone. We took a day off in Xi'an yesterday and now we are back on the saddle heading towards Lanzhou. Our bodies feel good, spirits are high and the weather has been great, so we are going to continue to move forward and take a day off when we reach Qinghai. Great to hear from you and I hope you and Janice are relaxing!
