Today we were riding through many industrial areas which was chaotic in regards to traffic and road conditions. Camping today was out of the question, we required a shower after our 4x4 expedition.

I am starting to question who is the teacher and who is the student...Ho Young has been correcting and teaching me Chinese on a daily basis. On average I get lit up with 20' "tingbudongs" per day which means I hear you but I don't understand. We started having daily quizzes to review his teachings.

Today we didn't go through too many communities; however, we went through a very remote area close to the city of Dantu to drop off some gear and promote our vision. Sport and play represents many attributes that transfer to other facets our life, which in turn makes us better people. It is our goal that people can experience personal growth through sport and play. It has been a pleasure to share this gift with the people we have met thus far. Next stop Hefei!

We have met so many great Mamas along the way. We wish she could have come with us, she made the best Nuro Lamian.

Wild Bill served us some nice cold drinks outside of Dantu.

Great to see that the spirit of the ride is not diminishing yet. I think this was an important day to test your mettle as a team. Now that the initial energy has had a chance to dissipate, it is great to see that the core strength of the 2 team members remains resolute. You will need this camaraderie to see you through the low points ahead. Remember to use each other's strength at those times to lift each other up. The smiling faces in the photos are amazing and speak loudly about the success of the message you guys are trying to spread.

Dear Mr.Hayes:
When the first time you said you would ride all the way to west of China, I hardly believe it would come true!
I am actually a lazy girl and give up things all the time, I hope one day I can do something like this! As you may know I will go to America this year, I wish I can be brave like Hoyoung and you ! XD
Wish you all the best and may the odds be ever in your favor!

Amy,

When you told me you were leaving next year I was genuinely upset. The school needs more students like yourself and you will be dearly missed. You are one of the hardest working student I have taught and I believe when you find your true passion, you will do everything your power to not give up. It takes time to find our path, but once you get there you will only move forward.

Learning chinese is good for you and you can always be a good teacher and student at the same time. Hefei is a great place, have fun! I am so proud to be your student. What a pity that there's no picture = =. Have a good rest...

--- a psalm of cycling dedicated to you---

neither admiration, or solicitude
is your destined way;
but ride, and each tomorrow
find you further away.

road is long, life is fleeting,
in departing, you leave behind you,
each drop of sweat,
glistening in the sultry day.

Thank you Stone for a great poem. I read this when I was trying to find my way around Hefei at 11pm and it lifted my spirits..
